Currently in its 25th Volume, the Review seeks to publish, on an annual basis, a comprehensive and distinguished journal of legal scholarship. Our Review is internationally recognised, providing significant contributions to legal understanding and debate. Our academic advisory board consists of the members of the law faculty in the Sutherland School of Law, University College Dublin, which is a top Irish law school in the QS World University Rankings.

Stephanie FitzPatrick || Joint Editor in Chief
Stephanie is a PhD Candidate at UCD Sutherland School of Law. Her research relates to EU enforcement of the rule of law. Stephanie is a graduate of KU Leuven, Belgium – holding an Advanced Masters LL.M. in International and European Public Law. She completed her Bachelor of Civil Law (BCL), Law with Politics, at UCD. Stephanie was a member of the Editorial Board of Volume 24 of the UCDLR, and served as Deputy Editor of Volume 25.

Hernan Perez McKay || Joint Editor in Chief
Hernan Perez-McKay is a graduate from the UCD Law with Chinese Programme. He was previously Editor-in-Chief of the UCD Student Legal Service Student Law Journal and Irish Representative at the Chinese Bridge International Language Competition, where he won second prize. His has a keen interest in Equity, Southeast Asian legal systems, and the divergence in common law developments between different jurisdictions.

John Ryan || Secretary
John is a final year BCL Law with History student from Wexford. He was previously Treasurer of the Literary and Historical Society. John has a keen interest in public law, property law and legal history. He is currently undertaking the legal research module in UCD. As part of his dissertation, he is researching the evidential value of approvers and informants in the prosecution of offences under ‘coercive’ legislation in early nineteenth-century Ireland.

Lynn Clarke-Hearty || Treasurer
Lynn is a PhD candidate at UCD Sutherland School of Law. Researching with women in prison and in the community, Lynn’s doctoral research explores women’s experiences of short prison sentences and life after prison in Ireland using the innovative method, Photovoice which involves photography, critical discussion and photo exhibitions. Lynn holds a Master of Laws (LLM) in Criminology and Criminal Justice (UCD) and completed a B.A. in Economics, Politics and Law (DCU). Lynn lectures in criminal law and criminology, and has particular research interests in gender, punishment and criminal justice.

Beatrice Drummond || Communications Officer
Bea is a final-year Bachelor of Civil Law student from Longford, with a particular interest in criminal, medical, and employment law. She has a strong passion for legal writing and journalism and currently works as a legal and features writer for The College Tribune. Bea recently completed a traineeship with the CNN Academy on scholarship, where she received expert training from CNN journalists and industry leaders in the media sector. Outside her academic pursuits, she is very involved in athletics and has represented Ireland at international level in cross-country.

Cara McCaul || Communications Officer
Cara is a final year Law with Social Justice student and is returning to the Board for a second year. She has a strong interest in public international and European law and spent a semester abroad at the University of Vienna. She is a recent winner of the Clúid Housing Essay Competition, with her policy proposal selected for publication. Alongside her studies, Cara works as a medicolegal research assistant. This summer she will be volunteering with the UCDVO MOEI Project, teaching English to children in Cambodia.

Barbora Votluckova || Communications Officer
Barbora is a second-year Law (BCL) student and is also currently the External and Internal Debating Officer for the Literary and Historical Society. She regularly attends various BP debating competitions, including the World Universities Debating Championships 2026 and European Universities Debating Championships 2025. Barbora has a keen interest in areas of criminal law and international law.

Mark McNally || Event Convenor
Mark is a third year Law with Politics student and is currently a Debates Convenor for the Literary & Historical Society, having been the Maidens Convenor during the 170th session. Mark has represented the L&H at various debating competitions as a speaker and judge. He was also the Libraries Officer of the 25th Editorial Board of the UCD Law Review, and is currently doing a placement at the Office of the Attorney General.

Benjamin Gallagher || Event Convenor
Benjamin Gallagher is a Master of Laws candidate at University College Dublin. He aims to focus his studies on commercial advisory, corporate governance and dispute resolution. Admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Western Australia and as a Solicitor of the High Court of Australia, Benjamin previously worked as a Litigation Associate at a top-tier Australian law firm in Perth, Western Australia where he gained experience in high value and commercially sensitive legal proceedings. Benjamin is a graduate of Murdoch University, where he completed an undergraduate Bachelor of Laws (LLB), and the University of New South Wales, where he attained a Graduate Diploma of Legal Professional Practice (GDLPP).

Eibhlin O’Connell || Event Convenor
Eibhlín is a final year Law with Politics student from Leitrim. She previously served as the Treasurer of the LGBT1+ Society and currently serves as the Society’s Inclusion Officer. Eibhlín enjoys volunteering and recently took part in the NOUR Project through AIESEC, where she travelled to Egypt. In her spare time, Eibhlín enjoys reading and playing the flute.

Ellie McManus || Online Publication Officer
Ellie McManus is a final year Law with Politics student from Cavan. She has previously acted as Honorary Lifetime Membership Officer for the UCD Law Society and is currently acting as Students’ Union Class Representative. She has assisted with the UCD SLS Legal Clinics, providing legal advice to fellow students. Ellie works part time as a lifeguard and swim instructor, a role she is very passionate about. She spent a semester abroad in the University of Vienna, Austria, where her studies focused on migration law, ICJ jurisprudence, and international trade law. Her interests lie predominantly in public international law and international trade, in particular where politics, law, and transnational business combine.

Daragh Mac Lachlan || Online Publication Officer
Daragh is a final year Law with Philosophy student from Dublin. He has an interest in legal writing and has particular interests in family and human rights law. He enjoys participating in mock trials, having won UCD’s William Fry Mock Trial in 2025. Aside from his legal interests, he has also acted as the Training Officer and PRO for UCD Dramsoc.

Aoibhinn Ní Eochaidh || Online Publication Officer
Aoibhinn is a final year Law with Irish student from Donegal. She has previously acted as Careers & Academics Officer as well as Inclusions & Outreach Officer for UCD Law Society, and is currently the Secretary of UCD Cumann Gaelach. She spent a semester abroad studying in Prague where she studied civil law systems as well as European law. Her areas of interest include company and insolvency law. In her spare time, she enjoys reading and playing music.

Gabija Kralikaite || Publication Officer
Gabija Kralikaite is an LL.M. General Law master’s student. She previously completed an internship with the Central Bank and has served as a legal observer for the Irish Council for Civil Liberties. Her academic interests include criminal justice and human rights law.

Josh Tracy || Libraries Officer
Josh is a Master of Common Law (MCL) candidate from Kilkenny. He is a graduate of the University of Oxford, where he obtained a B.A. in Theology. He previously served as a Sub-Editor of the SLS Legal Journal and his submission received the prize for best article. His current research projects focus on constitutional interpretation and Irish legal history.
